A tragedy
The world-famous English romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, famous for his wonderful lyrical poems and unconventional lifestyle, is the author of a tragedy which describes, with deadly passion, the bloody fate of the noble Cenci family. The author was inspired by a real case of incest and murders in 16th century Renaissance Italy. The irreversible meeting of innocent Beatrice with a tyrant deciding on the fate of the family presents the topic of crime and punishment as impressively as the famous work by Dostoevsky. The moral degeneration of an individual and the crookedness of the society are presented in this strong drama and stage production from a Slovenian theatre not unknown to Brno theatre-goers.
